Moonburn

A few years ago, I had a dream that I was a journalist and was sent to interview a woman who was a witch. She worshiped the moon. We got into a weird discussion. I told her that the moon’s light was not its own, that it was only reflecting the light from the sun. There’s plenty of symbolism and meaning that could be interpreted from this but the true lesson is my dream self is kind of a jerk.

In the past year I’ve been especially drawn to photographing subjects lit primarily by moonlight. The resulting images almost look like daytime but there is a quality to them that I don’t think would happen in any other light.

The voice of the sea speaks to the soul.

These are additional photos from way back when. Shootin’ the moon.

This one is a sunrise from when I lived in Lincolnville. I got up early and went to the intracoastal to watch the sun rise. Now I live on the other shore and watch sunsets.

Had a beautiful night with Lauren test shooting for full moon surfin’. I’ll add more
later possibly. There are some others on her site as well as some amazing creations
from her and Daniel Florez from the next night on the true full moon.
